The news you’ve all been waiting for – my fourth solo album Look Up is to get a full release through Reckless Yes records this summer.
That’s right, I’ve signed up with independent label Reckless Yes and together we’ll be releasing Look Up on limited edition coloured vinyl, CD, and digitally in just a few months time. Exciting stuff.
I recorded the album back in 2016 and it means a lot to me and I’ve been searching for the right home for it for a while – I think I’ve finally found that in Reckless Yes, a label with the energy and enthusiasm to keep up with me.
If you’ve not heard of them they’re run by Sarah Lay – a music journalist who has interviewed me a few times for the likes of Louder Than War – and Pete Darrington, a musician himself probably best known as the bassist in ‘90s angular noiseniks Cable (they’re also on that new Lamacq compilation, Lost Alternatives, that features The Bluetones).
Anyway, Reckless Yes has a great little roster of bands already which you should check out (I’ve been playing Unqualified Nurse Band’s Trashland a fair bit recently) and make sure you’re signed up for their mailing list [add link – http://eepurl.com/gcEK1z ] as well as mine to get the news first about where you can get your hands on Look Up.
The label has that classic feel – something like Factory, or Creation, or Sarah’s Records – and they treat their roster very much like family. I’m looking forward to working with them more and to finally getting this album out beyond those of you who supported the Pledge campaign back in 2016. There’ll be singles and videos and I’ll be out on the road as usual – it’d be lovely to see some of you at shows and tell you more about Look Up.
